What is the student: teacher ratio? Will kids be given individual attention?

How does GCIS take care of the holistic development of the kids. What do you specifically do for that?

At GCIS –  the holistic approach pays attention to children’s physical, personal, social , emotional and spiritual wellness as well as cognitive aspects of learning so that they are capable to face and meet with confidence the demands and challenges of everyday life as well as of the unforeseen rapidly changing world.

Parents are deeply concerned about the safety of their kids due to the pandemic. Can you share some specific measures taken by the school to tackle this?

Some specific measures taken by the school to tackle this are:

  • Once the date of reopening is set sanitizing the premises is the priority.
  • Setting hand sanitizers at the entrance and at strategic places on every floor.
  • Reworking on the schedule of classes to regulate the number of students attending school in a day.
  • Positioning of furniture as per the social distancing norms.
  • Educating and ensuring the staff and students wearing masks and wellness of oneself and others.
  • Educating and ensuring the habit of sanitizing at the end of every period.
  • Generating awareness among the staff and visitors towards sanitizing and social distancing.
  • Regular temperature check of everyone in the premises.
  • Coordinating with the local health authorities.
  • Compliance with all measures suggested by Government authorities.

Have the students of the school won awards for extraordinary performances in education, sports and, extra-curricular activities? Can you share a few examples?

At Greenfield Chennai International School participation in external competitions is being encouraged as its acts as a benchmark and enables students to compete with other students on a similar educational level. It is with immense pride and pleasure we wish to mention that our students have done extremely well in International Spell Bee competitions. Our students have fared well in the Silver zone Olympiad and SOF Olympiad especially in Sciences and English. In sports, we have students who have excelled in the district level Taekwondo competitions. We have students participating and excelling in chess and Yoga. Participating in such activities provide a unique competitive platform for our students.

We have noticed lush green and open spaces inside the space. Can you share something about the school's infrastructure?

School infrastructure is a key element in a child’s academic as well as holistic growth.

We have a lush green 5-acre campus that  features spacious and refurbished buildings , well- ventilated classrooms, playgrounds with sport facilities like basketball, Volleyball, Football , Kho- Kho , Athletics etc .

Well-equipped laboratories enable our students  to perform more effectively lab activities in Mathematics, Physics,  Chemistry,   Biology, and Computers.

Facilities like extracurricular workshops, libraries, reading room, games equipment, assembly area and proper sanitation facilities, study tables, chairs, furniture and basic utilities such as water, electricity are some of the infrastructures at Greenfield Chennai International School.

The role of parents in the upbringing of the kids is highly critical. What are some of the initiatives the school takes to make parents realize this?

At Greenfield Chennai International School we envision parents as partners in the learning process and hence parent is one of the key stakeholders in the child’s education.

We organize parent orientation, workshops, parent enrichment sessions , Open Days, Mom and Me program to help parents learn about what goes on in classrooms at school.

We also involve parents in our cultural events, communicate with them regularly, and incorporate them into the learning process.

What's the admission process for KG/UKG & LKG?

The admission process at Greenfield Chennai International School

The school considers Kindergarten an essential step in the ladder of educational experience.

Admission process for Pre KG, LKG, and UKG:

  1. A student must be at least 2.5 years old as of June of the School year before he / she is admitted to Pre- KG. The age limit for admission to higher classes is correspondingly higher.
  2. An application for admission should be made in person or through an online process.
  3. A student is given a general assessment orally and activity-based to assess their fine and gross motor skills.
  4. Parent interaction with the CEO and Principal at school to understand the background and values systems of the family.
